RIVERVIEW PERSONAL TRAINER WINS TB MARATHON SWIM

“About an hour and half into the race I didn’t think I would make it. But, just like any major challenge in life, knowing ahead of time that the moment of wanting to give-up would be coming somehow gave me the strength to continue.”

Some nine hours later, 10 hours and 7 minutes in total, Chelsea Nauta came out of the Gulf of Mexico triumphant in the 16th Annual 24 Mile Tampa Bay Marathon Swim.

Being a champion swimmer was not only part of Chelsea Nauta’s destiny, it was her passion from her earliest days. Chelsea wanted to start swimming competitively at four years old. But her mother, Andrea Rogers (a collegiate swimmer herself), told her daughter she would have to wait until she was six.

“So, I went to my first swim practice on my sixth birthday,” said the 24 year old Riverview resident and Personal and Group Fitness Trainer at the New Anytime Fitness on Boyette across from Riverview High School.

Chelsea’s recent championship in the marathon swim, where she bested 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist Brook Bennett, was not her first big win by a long shot. The Tampa Prep High School graduate was the first-ever winner of the Florida Swimmer of Year in three consecutive years, winning her first as a sophomore in 2004. Seven Florida State Titles later, Nauta moved on to the University of Georgia where she was part of the Bulldogs’ 800 Meter Freestyle Relay Team that set the American record for that event, was an NCAA Champion and won two SEC titles.

Like definitely attracts like. Chelsea’s boyfriend Chris Colwill was a two-time Olympic Diver and coaches diving in Brandon. And when Chelsea moved to Riverview she was drawn to the new Anytime Fitness on Bloomingdale.

“I met Mika (Mika McGee, Anytime Fitness, General Manager) when I got my membership there. She was so great. We hit it off immediately. And now I work for Mika and Brian (Brian Kleinschmidt, Owner of the Anytime Fitness’ in Brandon on SR60, Bloomingdale, and Boyette),” said Chelsea.

That’s right. Riverview-area fitness-seekers can now personally benefit from Chelsea Nauta’s energy, enthusiasm, and expertise. Call Anytime Fitness at 813-269-8463 and find out how you can receive a complimentary personal training evaluation and session from this champion of swimming and of life.  anytime chelsea champ
